Today on this 2008 Nissan Sentra we will be installing the Draw-Tite hitch part number 24794 and this installation will also apply to the Hidden Hitch part number 60871. The first thing we need to do before we get started is remove the spare tire from the spare tire well inside the trunk and we also need to remove the jack from the jack tie down bracket at the backside of the spare tire well. Our hitch installation is going to start in the trunk well. What we are going to do is take the reinforcing bracket that comes with the trailer hitch and get it lined up so that we can draw our holes and you will notice at the bottom of the spare tire well we have got three ribs. What we want to do is take the reinforcing bracket and lay it up against the back side of the spare tire well and align the edges of the bracket with the rear hedges of the ribs. 00:40

You will notice that the holes in the plate are off set. We need the offset to be facing towards the top of the spare tire well so that we hold a full 1-1/ 2 inches between the bottom of the floor and the center of the hole. With the sealant removed we can put the reinforcing plate back into position. At this time we can mark the holes. Remove the plate again and we want to drill these out with a 1/ 2 inch drill bit. With our holes drilled we can put the reinforcing plate back into position and put the carriage bolts in through there. Now you want to go underneath the vehicle. Underneath the vehicle we first want to remove the two plastic rivets that are holding the fascia to the vehicle. To do that you just want to take a flat head screwdriver and remove the center section of the rivet and that will just pop right out. 01:28

Next we want to go to the forward side of the spare tire well and find the trunk reinforcement. There is a hole at the bottom of that reinforcement that we are going to be using as the forward most attaching point for our trailer hitch. Before we install the carriage bolt we want to scrape off all of the undercoating that may be on the bottom of that reinforcement and with that done we can take our pull wire that is provided with our installation kit into the hole at the bottom of the reinforcement and out through the slot on the forward side. Just take the 1-1/ 2 by 2 inch carriage block and slide it onto the bolt leader onto the pull wires. Take the 1/ 2 inch by 2 inch carriage bolt and thread it onto the bolt leader and then just pull those into the trunk reinforcement and down into place. We will now come back to the rear side of the spare tire well where we had drilled our holes earlier. 02:32

We want to add the one by two inch spacers onto each one of these carriage bolts. With the spacers in place we can put the hitch up into position. We are going to hang the hitch from these two carriage bolts at the end of the spare tire well and attach those with a conical tooth washer and hex nut and then we will swing the hitch back around and attach to the trunk reinforcement. With all of the hardware in place we can torque the bolts down. Check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for all of the bolts. We will start with torquing the bolts at the rear of the spare tire well and then move on at the trunk reinforcement. With all of our bolts torqued down we just want to make sure we put our fascia fasteners back into place and with the trailer hitch installed from the ground to the top of the receiver tube is going to be 10 inches and from the center of the pin hole to the back edge of the bumper is about 7-1/ 2 inches. Put your jack and your spare tire back in the spare tire well and your installation will be complete. This will conclude the installation of Draw-Tite hitch part number 24794 on a 2008 Nissan Sentra.
